Drumming at Cedar Mountain Drums
 What
is drumming all about? Hearing our mother's heartbeat, safe
within the womb, was our first experience of music -- two rhythms
drumming together to create a song, as unique as each of us -- as
universal and ageless as eternity. Everyone innately knows
how to go about drumming! There is no
"right" or "wrong" way to express yourself drumming.
In
natural law, chaos is followed by order, but in our cities, fear and chaos
rule. We lock our doors, are afraid to venture out of our homes, and there
is a deep longing that is unfulfilled. In our drum store, the low
resonance of an elk drum, or the patterned drumming of an African djembe often brings tears.
This spiritual hunger is unmet in most that haven't a clue that the deep
rhythms inside them are longing for expression. There is a hunger for
community. There is a deep longing to recover our wholeness -- to experience
magic. What is the opportunity? In
traditional cultures, music and dance and
laughter are in abundance. Locked doors are a rarity, and there is a
deep trust in each other. The sacred is honored in all things, and the
drum provides the foundation. On the vibrations of the drum, the healing
spirits come to us. The drum is our heart. Drumming wakes up
and stirs the soul.
We at Cedar Mountain Drums have joined together to support
the sacred wishes of many hearts wanting to explore and realize the meaning
of their journey by using ancient tools to do so ... the drum, the rattle,
the flute, shields, smudging herbs ... all of these things are part of the
ceremony in finding the way of spirit.
